FAQs

Can I have online lessons?

Yes, online lessons are possible.  I mostly use Zoom and a combination of screen sharing and a Wacom graphing tablet.

Why do you offer a free consultation?

Time permitting, prospective students receive a free consultation because it is a great opportunity to get to know Sandra and see if you’re able to manage the travel to the lessons. Similarly, Sandra can assess your level and make recommendations regarding length and frequency of lessons, practice, exams and books. In situations where Sandra isn’t able to provide the coaching you require, or she feels that one-to-one coaching isn’t appropriate, she will recommend alternatives. Please contact Sandra to arrange a free consultation.

What equipment do I need?
  • Sharp pencil – if, like me, you can’t keep pencils sharp then buy some cheap retractable pencils. If you prefer a regular pencil then don’t forget a sharpener.
  • Eraser
  • Calculator – find out which calculator is recommended by your school.  Otherwise, most large supermarkets and stationery shops stock calculators.  Look for the Casio calculator recommended for GCSE (should be under £10)
  • Ruler (clear plastic): 15cm (6in) and/or 30cm (12in) later
  • Protractor (clear plastic)
  • Compass
How long do the coaching sessions last?

Most coaching sessions last 60 minutes, however, some students prefer longer.

Where will the coaching/tutoring take place?

The coaching/tutoring can either take place at the home of the coach or the student, a neutral venue (such as a coffee shop), or online (with Zoom).  Travel expenses are negotiated during the free consultation.
